Borrowers can use their VA home loan benefits to purchase a condominium. But there are additional restrictions in this type of purchase than from purchasing a single-family residence. The VA has to approve condominium complexes in order for veterans to use a VA Loan to purchase a home in that complex. The complex must go through a VA approval process, this includes reviewing the complex’s organizational documents and bylaws, homeowner’s association policies, parking availability, and finances. What happens if the condo isn’t in a VA-approved development complex? Fist, one must check if the complex already has approval from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Timeline
The VA officials will review the request and either approve or deny the condo complex or alert Security America Mortgage, Inc regarding missing documents or other issues that can be addressed and resubmitted.
