Garrett Puckett is a 5th-generation Texan and the Founder and CEO of Security America Mortgage, Inc., a Texas-headquartered mortgage company he has owned and operated since 2005. Raised in a family deeply rooted in real estate, ethical finance, and military service, Garrett brings decades of experience and principled leadership to the mortgage industry, with a strong focus on serving Veterans and military families nationwide.
Garrett’s commitment to ethical lending and service is multi-generational. His grandfather, Charles Doriocourt I, a World War I Veteran, was honored for his service and later became one of the founders of Houston Postal Credit Union in the 1940s. His uncle, Charles Doriocourt II, also served with distinction in World War II. This legacy of military service, financial responsibility, and integrity strongly shaped Garrett’s values and professional path.
Exposed to real estate and lending at an early age, Garrett purchased his first home at just 22 years old and gained early, hands-on experience across the real estate and mortgage industries. That foundation ultimately led him to form Security America Mortgage, with a mission to help Veterans fully understand and utilize their VA home loan benefits while also offering conventional and FHA financing solutions.
In addition to leading the company, Garrett is the primary author of educational content on SecurityAmericaMortgage.com, where he writes extensively about VA loans and VA one-time close construction loan programs. His expertise in VA construction lending has also been featured on other mortgage and real estate websites, helping Veterans across the country navigate some of the most complex loan structures with confidence.
Outside of work, Garrett is married and the proud father of his son, Pierce. He enjoys staying active through golf, tennis, surfing, kiteboarding, and rock climbing — pursuits that reflect the focus, discipline, and calculated decision-making he brings to both his professional and personal life.
SAR serves all of TX & FL and works with the best Veteran-friendly real estate agents throughout the USA.
GARRETT’S MILITARY FAMILY TREE…“My maternal grandfather, Charles D. Doriocourt, Sr. served in the US Marine Corps in WWI. He was wounded in action in France and would have received a Purple Heart, but these were not available until later in history. My maternal uncle, Charles D. Doriocourt, Jr. served in the US Army in WWII. He survived the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He too was a decorated war hero. Uncle Charles went back to college after the war on the GI bill. Many years later he rejoined army intelligence. My fraternal grandfather, Harlan N. Puckett was a captain in WWII and a paymaster. A cousin, Frankie Puckett, a very interesting lady, served in WWII and was in army intelligence during the war and post-war. She met Sir Winston Churchhill while in London. Two cousins served in the marines, and one is serving now as a navy attorney.”
